- Thought of the great Rayas from the late 1980s - Suckling
- 100% Grenache from the Iconic Cru of Pignan
- Aged on full lees for 3 years, no racking or sulphur
Sourced exclusively from the Pignan Lieu Dit, right next to Rayas. 100% Grenache from Pignan. Mounier himself calls this Les Amoureuses, reference to the elegant 1er cru from Chambolle in Burgundy. Strictly no pumping over of pigeage Why do you want to chase colour, do you drink or taste it J? as Mounier tells me. Aged for 3 years on full lees, NO racking/sulphur in exclusively 500ltr demi muds.
"I tasted this and I thought of the great Rayas from the late 1980s. Full body, bright fruit and acreamy texture. Its purity of fruit is amazing with dark berry, spice, meat and dried flowers. The first vintage of this was 2009. Made from old vines planted in the 1940s. Aged three years in demi mud. Very low sulfur too" – 98 pts - James Suckling
