- Yet another unforgettable wine of 2015
- Incredible value from one of Burgundy's greatest domaines
- 1/3 Pinot Noir 2/3 Gamay
It would be a mistake to dismiss this Passetoutgrain as a repository for undesirable Gamay grapes and Pinot Noir leftovers that did not make the cut. At Domaine Chevillon, this humble wine is a thing of beauty: the product of old vines from just outside Nuits-Saint-Georges, it is made with the same loving care as the Chevillons’ noblest premiers crus. The result is a graceful red loaded with superb energy, spicy complexity, and supple tannins, ready to drink tonight.
PTG is such a glorious thing. Lovely, pure feeling wine of tension, cherry fruit, floral notes, fine ribs of tannin. It’s nipped and tucked, trim and refreshing, svelte and has that fine sense of ‘elegance’. The blend of pinot and gamay takes things very seriously, rather than being a punchline. Very good wine here.
