- Outstanding Value Red Burgundy
- Truly exceptional expressions of Givry
- Traditional producer making wines of exceptional quality
Francois and Isabelle Lumpp own this frankly amazing 9 hectares domaine in Givry and for the those in the know it’s so much more than it AOC title. Francois inherited his families vineyards in the late 1970’s and then started his own label in 1991. He is focused entirely on the best premier cru sites of Givry. Givry so often confused with its more famous brother Gevry in the Cote d’Or but can produce stunning Pinot Noir of structure and finesse, particularly when handled by Francois.
“Once again the nose is markedly ripe yet retains the necessary freshness to the layered and liqueur-like combination of black raspberry, cherry and floral scents. Like the Pied du Clou the mouth feel of the medium weight flavors is relatively fine as the relatively pliant supporting tannins are well-integrated on the well-balanced finale where a hint of bitter cherry pit arises. This forward effort should drink well young”
