- From the north-east facing Hommage vineyard with 20+ year old vines
- Hommage is a tribute to the winemaking families who have gone before
- From the great 2018 vintage, this wine is well structured but very pretty
From the single vinyeyard 'Hommage' site, the fruit was harvested by hand and fermented using indigenous yeasts.
Attractive mid-garnet. The nose offers up a heady and complex bouquet of cherry plums and the forest floor together with a little dried herb and mortadella. In the palate, delicious primary flavours of cherries and plums, plus something like thyme, meld into a silky texture to which ultra-fine tannins add detail and persistence. This is a beautifully structured Hommage in which all is in its place including the lacy acidity that takes the wine from front to back with an ending that is clean and fresh.
Drink now to 2030.
Medium to deep red colour with the faintest tinge of purple and a strongly smoky, burnt-timber aroma. The wine is full and rich, fruit-sweet in the centre and the tannins are ripe and supple. There is a trace of positive development starting up. A bigger style of pinot and all the components are in the right place. Long carry. Very good indeed. (from a 2-acre north-east facing block planted to G5V15 and MV6 clones. 1/3 new oak)
