- Tasmania's new star producer
- One of Australia's most southerly vineyard sites
- Supple, perfumed, exotic Pinot Noir
Founded by Paul and Gili Lipscombe (mostly self-trained viticulturists) in 2005, with winemaking advice initially provided by Jim Chatto, this is without doubt one of the most exciting wine projects in Australia today. Located in the Huon Valley, Southern Tasmania in what has to be one of the most picturesque vineyards sites in Australia, this is label that is already producing very special wine: tensile, mineral-flecked Chardonnay which is more than a nod to fine Chablis; supple, perfumed, exotic pinot noir, definitely the most ‘complete' release to date.
Some of Tasmania’s finest. It only sees 5% whole bunches but there’s oodles of spice here. It makes such an excellent impression. Smoky and sweet at once, ripe and tangy too. It’s a savoury style but there’s far more to it than that. Tannin curls and cuts as it tightens and pulls. We call it cherry red and black and sometimes plum but it tastes more so of pinot noir. An infusion of sweet, roasted nuts. Beautiful.
