- Definitive Australian Grenache
4 of 5 of the sites selected for this wine come from the cooler sub-region of Blewitt Springs, now famous for some of the best Grenache’s in Australia. No dialog about the true potential for this varietal in Australia is complete without mention of this wine. All the calling cards of new world Grenache with layers of texture and spice, long rich and complex. Vibrant black cherry, rhubarb with lashes of vanilla and fennel aromas lead to firm but supple juicy tannins with vibrant acid leading to waves of flavours on the finish.
“Old school McLaren Vale “burgundy”, in the most positive sense of the word, presented with a fresh face. This is another very good release. It’s spicy and earthen, juicy with fruit and attractively dry/savoury to close. Depth isn’t its strong suit but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing with grenache; it’s at its best when striving for the ethereal. Leathery notes, pocked with fennel, add an extra element. It should develop well over the medium term.”
